King of Prussia, PA – The ramp from eastbound U.S. 30/Exton Bypass to northbound U.S. 202 is scheduled to close in East Whiteland and West Whiteland townships, Chester County, on Monday, July 24, through Friday, July 28, from 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning for overhead bridge construction, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today. During construction, motorists will be detoured to the Business U.S. 30 exit, right on eastbound Business U.S. 30 and right onto the ramp to northbound U.S. 202.
Prior to each night’s closure, there will be lane restrictions on the ramp from eastbound U.S. 30/Exton Bypass to northbound U.S. 202 from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM.
Eastbound U.S. 30 motorists should expect backups and slow moving traffic when approaching the ramp to northbound U.S. 202.
The ramp closure will allow PennDOT’s contractor to complete installation of shielding on the underside of the northbound U.S. 202 bridge over Amtrak and the adjacent ramp, and begin demolition of half the bridge’s concrete deck and parapets.
Motorists are also advised that one-of-the-two lanes on the ramp from southbound U.S. 202 to U.S. 30/Exton Bypass remain closed for the replacement of deteriorated concrete pavement. Southbound U.S. 202 motorists will encounter backups approaching the U.S. 30 Interchange, especially during peak travel times. Drivers heading to the U.S. 30/Exton Bypass and Business U.S. 30 should remain in the right lane on southbound U.S. 202 approaching the interchange, leaving the center and left lane for motorists continuing south on U.S. 202.
All work is part of a $26.4 million project to complete the final phase of the U.S. 202 Section 300 improvement project, which includes the rehabilitation of two U.S. 202 bridges over Amtrak rail lines.
Allan A. Myers, Inc. of Worcester, Montgomery County, is the general contractor on the $26,370,555 project which is financed with 100 percent federal funds.
